As an environmental NGO in Cameroon, we recognize the importance of pollinators like bees in maintaining ecosystem health and biodiversity. Our Bee-Friendly Plant Mapping Micro Projects aim to identify, map, and promote bee-friendly plants in Cameroon, supporting pollinator conservation and sustainable agriculture practices.

Project Implementation

  1. Community Engagement: We work closely with local communities, farmers, and beekeepers to identify areas of interest and involve them in the project.
  2. Plant Identification: Our team of experts identifies bee-friendly plants in the target area, using a combination of field observations, literature reviews, and community knowledge.
  3. GIS Mapping: We use Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to create interactive maps of bee-friendly plants, including their distribution, abundance, and flowering periods.
  4. Data Analysis: Our team analyzes the data to identify patterns, trends, and correlations between plant species, pollinator populations, and environmental factors.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: We share our findings with local stakeholders, including farmers, beekeepers, and policymakers, to promote the use of bee-friendly plants and support pollinator conservation.

Project Outcomes

  1. Interactive Plant Maps: We create interactive maps of bee-friendly plants, accessible to farmers, beekeepers, and conservationists.
  2. Pollinator Conservation: Our project supports pollinator conservation by promoting the use of bee-friendly plants and reducing pesticide use.
  3. Sustainable Agriculture: We promote sustainable agriculture practices by providing farmers with information on bee-friendly plants and their benefits.
